We were delighted last night to join Edinburgh Napier University in launching their new project, Interconnect, for women studying Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) in Scotland.
This unique project, run by the Scottish Resource Centre for Women in SET is aimed at supporting women students throughout the country to encurage them in industries where they have little representation - just one in six studying these subjects at undergraduate level is a woman.
Our new website for Interconnect provides an online portal of information, career guidance, access to case studies and professional role models. To meet Interconnect's ambition of creating a national network, we integrated Facebook to encourage students throughout the country to form groups, both local and regional to lend support to the challenges they face.
At the launch last night, held at sponsor Halcrow's offices on Abercromby Place, Edinburgh I found several students queuing up to start their own groups there and then. A flying start to a fantastic initiative!
