The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day work relating to the development and maintenance of web projects at RCAHMS including the presentation layer for both RCAHMS and RCAHMW. Applicants must have:

  • Proficiency with both CSS and CSS-P
  • The ability to hand-code HTML and JavaScript
  • Exp of creating Content Management Systems using PHP and MySQL
  • Some expof creating both static and dynamic websites
  • Awareness of web accessibility issues

Web Officer, Treasured Places Project, RCAHMS, Edinburgh

Treasured Places is an exciting new outreach and exhibition project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, to celebrate the centenary of RCAHMS by opening up its collections to new audiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day preparation of all web output for the Treasured Places project, including the development and delivery of the presentation layer for a new interactive facility. Applicants must have:

  • Exp of creating web pages and manipulating images
  • Proficiency with CSS, its application through external style sheets and an awareness of browser-specific issues
  • Ability to hand code HTML/XHTML and Javascript through the Document Object Model
  • Exp of developing dynamic websites utilising PHP and MySQL, particularly the development and/or integration of Content Management Systems
  • Awareness of web standards and accessibility issues
  • Awareness of search engine optimisation
  • Good communication skills, a high degree of accuracy and a methodical working approach

Technician, Computing Services, Edinburgh College of Art

The Edinburgh College of Art is looking for a Technician to provide support for staff and students in Windows 2003 (server support), Active Directory and Exchange 2003 (configuration and support). You will also manage the college email, user accountes, network printers and other shared resources. You will be responsible for providing support for digital media and audio visual applications. This role is within the Interpretation Team of Historic Scotland and will be based at their Edinburgh HQ. Working as part of the team responsible for communicating the value and importance of the historic environment to the public, your activites will focus on rolling-out new guidebooks and in developing website content for their properties. You will also take responsibility for developing the guidebook publications strategy, initiating new publication projects and commissioning materials for younger visitors. You must have significant authoring, editing and publishing experience (perhaps in educational publishing), and an excellent command of English language and grammar. You must be highly organised, have a strong ability to manage delivery, have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills as well as having an aesthetic sensibility. Well, Ardvar, in Drumbeg, Sutherland (north west coast of Scotland) is looking for a Gardener (salary circa £16,000 pa).
