We are currently recruiting job seekers for our first Cisco Certified Network Associate course which will be delivered at our newly built Cisco Community Networking Academy in Haymarket.
To be eligible, you will be unemployed and living in Edinburgh, qualified to at least NC Computing, HNC/HND Computing or related discipline, or CompTIA A+. In addition, we’re looking for candidates who have not benefited from either Training for Work or New Deal type training support in the past.
We are particularly interested in hearing from young people, lone parents and women returners to the labour market, who are interested in developing a career in network engineering.

Scotweb Store – Web / Database Developer
Scotweb Store is a highly successful and fast-growing specialist online retail operation, built on their own back-end programming and customer facing web sites, all developed in-house.
Your duties will mostly entail development and maintenance of their software and web sites, working alongside their systems administrator and their site content coordinator. You will also be partially responsible for the day to day upkeep of the (mostly Apple Mac) office systems.
You will need:
- One or more high level languages (Perl/PHP/Java/C etc.)
- Relational databases (Specifically PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- XHTML/CSS
- Willingness to learn
These would be an advantage:
- Filemaker Pro or similar products e.g. Microsoft Access
- Linux experience
- Knowledge of usability principles
The working environment is friendly but focussed, as part of a team of around nine full-time staff. Hours will mostly be normal weekday 9-5 or 10-6, but emergency cover out of hours (usually possible off-site) may be required very occasionally.
Salary will be between 16K & 24K, depending on skills and experience.

Possibly a bit late in the day for this one as it was posted 14th March, but blue chip web agency Realise were looking for an experienced Web Developer to join the team down in Leith.
“You need to have excellent client-coding skills, with a minimum of 1 years’ practical experience. Experience of HTML, XHTML, DHTML, XSLT, CSS, Javascript, Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver are essential. A familiarity with Flash Action Scripting, XSL-FO, CMSs and .NET would be an advantage.”
