An experienced system administrator within EPCC, you will support academic and industrial projects using Grid software and advanced computing systems. You will be responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of these systems and their services to meet project quality and time targets.
You should have advanced investigative and analytical skills, allied to detailed knowledge of advanced computing and Grid software. You will have five years’ practical experience installing, configuring and supporting Unix- based systems. Experience of working within European- scale computing projects, preferably using a formal project management process is also essential.

System Engineer

The Systems Management Team is responsible for the procurement, installation and support of all server hardware and software throughout NHS Borders. As a Systems Engineer, you will provide hardware and software support for all servers at NHS Borders sites. You will have a degree level qualification in a relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience. Knowledge of the following technologies is essential – Windows NT, Exchange 5.5, Windows 2003 and Active Directory. Knowledge of Citrix, SMS 2003 and experience in the use of enterprise antivirus and backup software would be an advantage.

Web Developer / Database Developer

There is an urgent requirement for a web / database developer to work on an intranet project for a major bank.
The focus of the role is back end development and requires good experience of Oracle PL/SQL and relational databases.
Experience of scripting languages (ASP) and stylesheets (CSS) is also required.
Applicants should have a track record of designing and implementing web applications in a complex environment.

As well as a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, you will posses a minimum of 1 years experience in the following:
