Flash Developer, Picsel Technologies, Glasgow
Salary: £25-30k

Picsel Technologies, with HQ based in Glasgow, are a software development company working primarily with developing applications to deliver rich mobile content on small screen devices. They are now looking for a Flash Developer with high level of technical skills in ActionScript and Flash programming to join their Glasgow- based team but you will also be interacting with teams at other Piscel offices. The role works with the Design team who have developed a UI concept and you will be adapting this into a commercially viable model on a mobile device. The focus is on producing high quality code that is highly efficient in terms of code size and memory utilisation. Picsel encourages the creativity in their developers to continually push the barriers within Flash development. You must have:

  • an HND or above in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • 2 + years of using Flash MX 2004 (and its derivatives)
  • 2 + years of using ActionScript 2.0 and 1.0.

You should also have object-oriented programming and design skills and be able to demonstrate a portfolio of previous work. Desirable skills include knowledge of Flash Lite, and of using Flash for mobile devices, exp of developing UI’s, exp in Photoshop and understanding of the full product development life cycle. Web/Multimedia Designer, D8/3D8, Glasgow

D83D8 , the Glasgow based design agency who work in a variety of media including print, interiors, web, multimedia, and advertising are looking for both a Web Desinger and a Web Developer. For the Web Designer role you will need the following:

  • Lots of exp of coding CSS based HTML websites
  • Creative design skills using Adobe CS software
  • Exp with Flash
  • A keen design eye

For the Web Developer role you will need the following:

  • Exp in building dynamic client-updatable, database-driven websites, using PHP and/or ASP.net and associated technologies.
  • General code wizardryusing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML
  • E-commerce exp is vital
  • Exp with dynamic Flash websites would be a bonus.

You should have a comprehensive range of technical skills and abilities with an excellent track record in the use of db technologies in site design. You will responsible for the ongoing maintenance and technical development of the School’s web presence. This post is fixed- term for one year. Essential requirements are:

  • In-depth knowledge of HTML and CSS using Dreamweaver MX
  • Exp of ColdFusion/SQL
  • Excellent standard of written English.

E-Learning Systems Developer, The University of Edinburgh, College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine

This role is based in the e-Learning Unit, Learning Technology Section, College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and you will support the day-to-day running and development of the College’s MLEs and assessment systems. You will be also be responsible for substantial amounts of systems development and maintenance, user training, support and data management.
You must have excellent technical skills in the management and development of web-based educational information systems, preferably VLEs and/ or e- assessment tools. Essential skills:

  • MS SQL Server db design and management
  • ASP ASP. NET, HTML , CSS and XML.
  • high level of competency in Flash, Director, Photoshop & Illustrator.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of current issues surrounding educational systems and data management
  • Familiarity with working within a tertiary education sector.
