Graphic Designer required for Glasgow HQ of mobile phone software company, Picsel, to be involved with the design and creation of icons. Icons will vary and will include animation as well as static icons. Each will need to convey information to users around the world so exp in communicating with people from other cultures, and in capturing fashion trends in design will be valuable. Some icons will be designed using 3D animation modelling software, while others will be drawn pixel by pixel.

You will be working with a skilled Flash team andi nstructions may be written or informal, so you must be willing to work both with formal specifications, critical deadlines, and also to unclear requirements or evolutionary developments..

The job may also involve other design work such as page layout, font design, corporate branding and logos, writing, web design, exhibition posters, or consulting on graphic design issues for other engineering projects.

You will need: HND (or above) in fine art, graphic design, computer aided design or illustration. Min 2 years exp in graphic design, including various media and techniques. Expertise in web design, DTP, icons, short animated video sequences
Flash, and logo designs. You must also be familiar with image and video file formats such as PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, AVI, MPEG. You must be comfortable using 2D and animation software such as: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Aftereffects.
as well as Macromedia Freehand, Flash (2+ years exp) and Dreamweaver. Picsel will be looking to see your portfolio, in particular any examples of animated graphics (vector or raster), web designs and images.

Perl Developer with knowledge of either SQL or Oracle database is required by a major Glasgow organisation. You need min of 1 ½ years experience of programming in Perl on a SQL or Oracle database and exp in PHP, Java, CGI, Linux and HTML would be beneficial (but not essential). Promotion and career progression is good and full training will be provided on new technologies – ideally they will want you to learn Java.
