Due to continued success, this high profile organisation specialising in the design and development of Web based financial systems require a talented individual join their and expanding team. You must have a minimum of 2 years solid experience of working with open source technologies.
Working in a small talented team you will spend you first 6 months getting to grips with this firms core system – a complex multi-transactional Web based system. Two new projects are imminent and following that initial 6 month period, you will be expected to play a key role on these projects.
You will need to be an analytical problem solver who relishes a technical challenge/puzzle and has the patience and determination to find the most appropriate solution possible. This role may suit an individual who has been working in a finance based technical environment (this is by no means essential) in London and is now looking to work in a less rigid and more down to earth flexible environment, but without compromising on the technical challenge.

Department
Small, friendly and busy IT department responsible for design, development and maintenance of all websites/intranet, email marketing and integration with 3rd party software suppliers.
Position
The ideal candidate will have an intimate knowledge of HTML, be proficient with Photoshop and possess strong design skills, a working knowledge of Active Server Pages (ASP) and JavaScript would be a distinct advantage. Desirable but not essential skills include knowledge of Microsoft Access and general IT troubleshooting.
Duties would include:
Day to day updating and maintenance of the company websites and intranet.
Design and development of new web features.
Creation and sending of promotional emails.
Liaising with other departments to determine what their web needs are.
The majority of projects will be team based with support provided wherever necessary. You will be encouraged to provide development ideas for new and existing systems.
Some flexibility in working hours may be required.

You will join our Development Services Group within Management Information Service (MIS), which is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting the IT systems required to run the University’s business functions. You should have extensive experience in supporting web and application server technologies, network security, firewalls and UNIX/Linux, and play a key role in maintaining and developing the IT infrastructure which underpins University business activities.
You must have a minimum of three years’ experience as a systems administrator in a production environment, with ideally at least one year in a technical or service leadership role. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work under pressure to deliver effective and high quality solutions is essential for this challenging role. Experience of working with the Oracle RDBMS and related application server technologies is highly desirable.

Based in the e-Learning Unit, Learning Technology Section, College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, you will support the day-to-day running and development of the College’s MLEs and assessment systems that support undergraduate medicine and veterinary medicine and a range of postgraduate activities across the College and beyond. You will be responsible for much of the day-to-day management of these as well as substantial amounts of systems development and maintenance, user training and support and data management. One of the posts will have a particular focus on e-assessment, the other will be more focused on the College’s MLEs.
You should have excellent technical skills in the management and development of web-based educational information systems, preferably VLEs and/or e-assessment tools, using Microsoft server technologies including MS SQL Server, ASP, ASP. NET, C#, HTML and XML. You will also have excellent communication skills, knowledge of current issues educational systems and data management, familiarity with working within a tertiary education sector and the ability to develop and extend your skills as required and to fit in to an established and award winning e-learning team.
