TRC is an independent charity working in partnership with UK broadcasters, producers and agencies to provide high-end training and original research to the creative content industry. They’re looking for a talented and dynamic Multimedia Project Manager to deliver a new training initiative, Cross-Creative, and to manage their online services including TRC’s website and e-bulletin. A strong communicator, you will have a background in creating or managing multimedia content and a good understanding of the broadcasting industry. Microsoft Systems Administrator, ISP, Scotland

Hudson is looking for an experienced MS Systems Administrator to join a national ISP providing business solutions. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing their hosting system. Skills required:

  • Experience of designing, installing, managing, updating and maintaining Windows 2000 and 2003 server systems – preferably with MCSE or MCSA.
  • Knowledge of Web servers, DNS, mail systems and database systems (MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005)
  • Advanced experience of and knowledge of Linux, Red Hat systems

Linux Administrator / Programmer, Scot Web Shops
Salary: £18 – 22k

ScotWebShops is advertising on the Edlug board for a proficient Linux System Administrator with programming skills, either through work experience or as a recent computer science graduate. Working alongside one other technical developer, you will enjoy an unusual degree of responsibility in not only maintaining their existing sites and systems, but in proposing and implementing solutions towards meeting their business goals. You’ll see immediate results from your work, and gain experience with a broad variety of technologies. The following skills would be particularly desirable:

  • Good knowledge of the Linux operating system
  • SQL: PostgreSQL or another RDMS
  • High level programming languages, ideally Perl * Fluent English Familiarity with the following would be very helpful:
  • E-commerce systems (especially Interchange)
  • Project work, in a team
  • User support
  • Integration with Payment Gateways
  • Other integration projects
  • Configuration of Mail Servers
  • Networking, Routing, IP Tables, DNS, etc.
  • Asterisk or other VOIP systems
  • Statistical or mathematical background
  • Working with load-balanced scalable systems

The workplace is generally friendly and informal, but often busy. They work as a team, so you’ll need to be able to collaborate with all other staff for the overall good of our business and customer service so a cooperative and flexible approach is vital. You’ll work mostly standard weekday hours, with some flexibility once fully trained. But you’ll also be expected to be available for (rare, and mostly off-site) troubleshooting out of hours, if needed to keep their systems running. Post is budgeted at £18-22k but this may be negotiable for exceptional skills.
