PhD Studentship award: the internet and the archive
RCAHMS – in conjunction with the School of Education, University of Edinburgh – have been awarded a PhD studentship by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council to investigate how the internet is changing the way users engage with, and learn from, the collections of cultural institutions. The studentship covers all UK fees, and includes an allowance of *12,940 per academic year, plus an additional annual *1,500 maintenance payment provided by the AHRC and RCAHMS.

Technical skills: you should have a minimum of 5 years + commercial experience with expertise in Rich Internet Application development. Graphic/Web Designer, Glasgow

Established web design company constantly requires a good graphic designer first and foremost, with a passion for the web and an eye for detail. What matters is that you can communicate with clients, and put together engaging, eye-catching visuals.
Responsibilities will include:
- Creating original designs and layouts for large e-commerce websites and other web interfaces.
- Communicating with clients.
- Creating corporate identities (logo and brand guidelines).
- Some print work, if and when required.
Essential requirements include strong graphic design skills along with a good working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop. You must be able to demonstrate examples of your work (digital please – ie: links to websites, online porfolio, pdf examples). and have the ability to work to deadlines and use your own initiative.
A knowledge of HTML and CSS, along with experience in designing web interfaces would be advantageous. An advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS, web standards, accessibility and usability, expof print, In-design and Flash (animation and basic actionscript) is not required, but would help.
