Should you create full flash websites?
Posted byNow, if you have had the dubious pleasure of being trained by me you will know my love for Flash…
Don’t get me wrong, Flash is a great program, it makes some lovely interactive applications that can make online learning a joy. Who hasn’t played some of the really sweet Flash games to kill a bit of time during your lunch, or laughed until you cried to hillarious animations and cartoons?
People have even used it as a content delivery platform – YouTube have used its streaming technology to deliver terabytes of video every month, so why am I always down on it?
Because so many people go “Oooh Flash, it makes things move and have sound, it’s gotta be good, lets make our site all flash and then the hordes will flock to it and worship at our skill and obvious internet mastery!”
Ahem.
I could rant until I am blue in the face and you are bored to tears about why the above is just so wrong. But I won’t, instead the great guys at the google cache have put what is obviously hours and hours of thought into the SEO implications of full Flash driven sites (sorry did I forget to rant about the SEO issues of Flash…?).
They have produced a very complex flow chart to show how and what you should consider when you reach for Flash to create your next masterpiece…
And remember folks, Google loves clean code, and content content content. Write clean code and provide good content and you too will go to Google heaven. :)
what tickled me is when I got to the bottom of your rant one the Google Ads was for free flash software! Guess that’s about what it’s worth eh??????
