Web Digital Developments Officer

The National Museums Scotland is one of the UK’s leading museums services. Operating five museums and with one of the largest multidisciplinary collections in the UK, it aims to be a world-class museums service that educates, informs and inspires. They are currently looking for a Web Digital Development Officer to join a small team developing, implementing and maintaining a range of digital and web-related initiatives.
Educated to degree level in an ICT related subject, you must be able to demonstrate experience of developing accessible websites, creating interactive web pages and developing databases. It is important that you have undertaken availability and accessibility assurance of websites and that you have practical experience in interpreting usage statistics and other management information. You also must have proven skills in HTML, CSS, ASP.NET and SQL. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to interpret and implement customer requirements, influence others regarding technical developments and manage projects.

Web Developer, University of Dundee

The College of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee is looking for a Web Developer with a strong background in web technologies to join the High Performance Computing group (HPC) within their high-profile, internationally excellent research environment. You will have strong development skills, detailed knowledge of HTTP as well as a proven track record in delivering agile, extensible web solutions to customers using open source content management systems technology. You will be responsible for the creation and deployment of the College’s main web presence as well as developing the wider use of web applications within a heterogeneous environment. Excellent team working and the ability to work with internal non-technical clients are also key requirements. High Performance Computing maintain a 90 TB SAN that supports extensive Linux and UNIX based systems as well as a 200 CPU Compute Cluster. Current web infrastructure is provided from a Linux server cluster using Apache, Tomcat and ColdFusion. Key skills and experience required include a professional knowledge of at least one of the following:
- Perl,
- PHP,
- Python,
- Java
You will also need experience of HTTP and configuration of Apache and/or IIS; proven, demonstrable track record in website design including capturing and translating client requirements; exp of enterprise and web content management systems; a good working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS; exp developing RDBMS/SQL driven websites. Desirable Skills/Experience will include:
- Graphic Design and Image manipulation
- JavaScript, AJAX, XML, XSL
- Tomcat, JBoss or other application servers
- ColdFusion, CFML.
