IT & Network Support Engineer, Xilinx, Edinburgh, Scotland

Xilinx is looking for an IT and Network Support Engineer to join the IP development centre. You must have at least 3 yrs exp in IT and Networking Support, a 1st class honours degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering is preferred. Job Responsibilities: day to day support of a team of 40 development engineers supporting a wide variety of tools and a range of development platforms, including:

  • First line of support for day to day user requests and problems
  • Installation and deployment of new desktops, laptops, servers, and infrastructure
  • Configuration management support for engineering and build release candidates
  • Contribute to infrastructure project planning and schedules
  • Scripting, automation, and documentation for all tasks and * responsibilities as appropriate

Skills: – Experience of deployment and support of Windows XP Professional – Experience of deployment and support of Linux, especially Red Hat – Some experience of Solaris – Familiarity with Cisco and NetApp equipment would be beneficial – Proficient in Perl and shell scripting – Working knowledge of revision control systems – Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Excellent problem solving, logic, and analytical skills – Some experience of electronic CAD and Design Automation software would be beneficial
