Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) is a vendor-independent Linux certification programme aimed at practitioners. It provides a detailed and structured education in key Linux administration skills up to a very advanced level.

LPIC comes in three levels LPIC-1, LPIC-2 and LPIC-3, each of which has two exams 101, 102, 201, 202, 301 and 302. Both exams must be passed to attain certification at that level and progress to the next level.

This course covers LPI102. Click here for LPI101 .

Who is it for?

  • People who need to administer and configure Linux or those whose usage requires them to do more than can be achieved using web browsers and desktops.
  • LPIC-1 is aimed at junior to mid-level Linux administrators. You should have up to two years experience in system administration, be comfortable with Linux at the command line and be capable of performing simple administrative tasks, including system installation and troubleshooting
  • Linux experience is essential. Please get in touch if you require an introductory Linux course before starting LPIC.

Benefits.
Attendees will receive a thorough introduction to Linux system administration. Passing LPIC lets you prove your expertise to employers and colleagues. For employers, having LPIC qualified staff means you can be sure they have the knowledge and skill to do their job efficiently and effectively.

Course format/style.
The course is small with no more than 10 students and 2 teaching staff in attendance. The course follows published LPI objectives. We attempt to spend about half of the course in hands-on lab sessions and include at least one practice exam. A comprehensive textbook is provided, and each student will have their own machine running Fedora Core 5. The course will run for 4 days over 4 successive weeks.

What will you learn. LPI102 covers the 9 subject areas outlined below. The emphasis is on command line usage and understanding the material, it is NOT an exam cram, if you know the material you will pass the exam.
