Find My Past
What we did
Find my Past is the largest ancestry research site in the UK containing over 650 million family history records. It is part of a group of ancestry-related sites including ScotlandsPeople and Friends Reunited, both owned by BrightSolid, the Dundee-based technology company.
Find My Past was the first website to put the complete birth, marriage and death indexes for England and Wales online, drawing on census, parish, military, migration and specialist records held by The National Archives. The site offers free access to most records givng users the option to view actual images and transcripts for a fee.
Additional services include the ability to create and share an online Family Tree and to archive family records, photos, transcripts and history.
Working in collaboration with Elastic Creative and User Vision, in Jan 2010 we completed the first phase in redesigning the site look / feel and rebuilding the underlying HTML/CSS structure.
Key objectives were to make the front-end pages more accessible and user-friendly and to enhance the subscription and Pay-as-you-go services. New videos and user guides were also created and embedded in refreshed page designs and CSS templates.
Next phases will address the content management system interface for the Find My Past team, and as site grows the addition of new collaborative tools and social networking features
