Web Developer, Ezone Interactive, Edinburgh

An outstanding Web Developer is required by Ezone Interactive, one of Scotland’s most innovative and successful web application development companies. You will work as part of a small team on the continuous development and support of a large, exciting e-commerce application. You’ll be involved in all aspects of development – from planning and specification through to final testing, release and then technical support of the application. Professional experience should include:

  • Asp.Net (preferably C#);
  • SQL Server (preferably 2005);
  • Web application development;
  • HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML;
  • Web usability and accessibility best practices; Cross browser compatibility issues;
  • Use of an integrated IDE (preferably Visual Studio 2005);
  • Technical documentation

Graphic/Print Designer, Delta Design Studios, Livingston

Talented Designer required to learn the printing.com web design technology which about to be rolled out this year. The day- to-day work will be in preparing customer files for print using a range of applications: Indesign, Freehand, Photoshop and Illustrator. Ideally the candidate will be a graduate of a relevant discipline with some commercial exp and a good portfolio. They must be able to prepare work from a business card to a large full colour booklet based on customer brief, be both Mac and PC lliterate, and have a strong IT background. General skills include:

  • Confidence to eventually take full responsibility of a small Design Studio
  • Working to tight deadlines
  • Flexible working hours – some weekend work
  • Ideally within easy reach of Delta House (we are right next to Livingston North train station)
  • Customer facing – sales orientated
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Web skills:

  • An appreciation of preparing graphics for web use
  • A thorough knowledge of FTP use
  • Able to demonstrate the technology to non technical
  • Willing to build online stores
  • Use of Dreamweaver and CSS technology
  • Awareness of Accessibility issues
  • Good understanding of email technology to support level.

Candidate should also be prepared to travel and stay overnight for training courses, and ideally have a full driving licence as offsite customer consultation is sometimes required and some deliveries. They should have an excellent understanding of graphic file formats. Exp of accounting systems, whilst useful, not essential but good Mathematical mind and able to seek new markets, gather data, do mail merges, create feature rich e-newsletters, etc.

Globespan, the Edinburgh-based Scottish tour operator, requires a System Analyst to join their rapidly expanding and busy IT team in the Colinton office. You should have an excellent knowledge of Visual Basic and creation of reports within Microsoft Access. Knowledge of Oracle, SQL server and XML would also be an advantage but is not essential. The position would ideally suit a graduate with a software-related degree and some commercial exp. Duties would include:

  • Day to day updating, maintenance & troubleshooting of the existing database systems.
  • Design and development of new reporting software.
  • Liaising with other departments and our 3rd party software suppliers.

The majority of projects will be team based with support provided wherever necessary. You will be encouraged to provide development ideas for new and existing systems.
