The Glorious Gardens of Argyll & Bute
This re-design project was completed for a glorious group of rare, botanical and specialist gardens that dot the west coast of Scotland. The group comprises 21 gardens varying in size, style and maturity, dating from the 13th to the 20th century. They are spread throughout the mainland of Argyll, often in dramatic scenery, and extend to the neighbouring islands of Bute, Colonsay, Gigha, Jura, Mull and Seil.
Working with Alison Galloway of Anderson Grace as Project Manager, we created a bright new design and re-focused navigation to meet the brief of the Glorious Gardens committee. The final design was carried into an XHTML /CSS based architecture, giving a unity to the overall group but providing each individual garden with its own section to highlight their location and unique plant collections. The gardens can each be found by name or located via the imbedded Google map. Separate sections provide information to help visitors plan a trip to multiple gardens, find transport and get recommendations on places to eat and stay. Other sections include a Textpattern ‘News’ section and an ‘Events’ calendar to give all members the opportunity to announce special dates, festivals and events happening throughout the Argyll Peninsula. A glorious resource for all garden lovers!
